The car broke down on the highway.(這輛車在高速公路上出故障了。)

Phrasal Verb

She gave up smoking last year.(她去年戒菸了。)

Phrasal Verb

She turned off the lights in the room.(她關掉了房間裡的燈。)

The dog ran away from the park.(那隻狗從公園跑走了。)

She turned the music up.(她把音樂調高了。)

在這個例子中,”turned up” 是一個可分離片語動詞,”the music” 是動詞 “turn up” 的受詞,可以放置在動詞 “turn” 和副詞 “up” 之間。

They always look after their children.(他們總是照顧他們的孩子。)

在這個例子中,”look after” 是一個不可分離片語動詞,”their children” 是動詞 “look after” 的受詞,緊跟在Phrasal Verb之後。
